Yeah, yeah, Carnival’s nearly here. It’s not like anyone’s been waiting for it all year or anything. To get you in the mood, here are four tracks that have been doing it at other carnivals all around the world in 2010.
First up a plaintive anthem for the gyal dem from St Lucia’s Qpid.
Hailing from Montserrat, Ringtone (file alongside Busy Signal and Voicemail) brings a darkly detuned, broody banger to the party.
Trinidadian big dog Machel Montano teams up with Skinny Fabulous on a crazy, drum heavy anthem for the drinkers.
And finally, an out and out feel good tune from St Vincent’s Problem Child, complete with cow bells, whistles and trumpet crescendos.
We’ll see you up by the stack; in between the smiling copper and the bemused looking baby wearing ear protectors.
